Barcelona Part I: La Sagrada Família & Parc Güell
We kicked off our Barcelona trip with a visit to La Sagrada Família (which means "The Holy Family"). You really can't visit this city without taking a look inside this church. It's simply unreal, and the pictures don't do it justice. There are so many interesting things about La Sagrada Família, one of them being that the architect, Antoni Gaudí, is buried there. Yep, that's right... in one area of the church you can look down and see his tomb. The church has been under construction for 130 years and it's said to be finished 100 years after Gaudi's death: 2026. We'll see about that... Immediately after visiting La Sagrada Família we went to Parc Güell - another one of Gaudi's famous projects. It's now a beautiful park that was once thought to be a real estate development. Gaudi's house is situated on the property and you can take a tour of it. Even though the project wasn't finished the way it was originally intended, the park has gorgeous views of the city, the Mediterranean Sea, and Mount Tibidabo.
