London Part I
At the end of October Shay & I went to Berlin & Paris. We were home in Chicago for approximately 3 weeks, and then we flew to London for Thanksgiving! It’s abnormal for us do that much traveling in such a short period of time, but we just can't say no when these opportunities come up! We flew out of Chicago the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and then landed Thanksgiving morning. We flew direct overnight, which I would highly recommend to anyone. I didn’t consider Thanksgiving a “travel day”, since we were able to drop our bags off at the hotel, grab breakfast by 9:30, and hit a museum as soon as it opened. Sure, we took a nap around 2:00 that day, but by dinner time we were rested and ready to get back out there.
It was a bit strange being across the pond for Thanksgiving. We spent our holiday eating scotch eggs, drinking lots of pints, and counting our blessings. To get more in the holiday spirit we went to Oxford Street to look at the Christmas lights, which was a dream!
The next morning we went on a free walking tour with Undiscovered London. Even though we did a lot of research before traveling to London, we were amazed at the stories and inside scoop our tour guide was able to offer us. There’s nothing like a local showing you around their town. I would say this was the highlight of our trip!
At the bottom of the page you will see our London Guide Map with all the places we went along with a few I wish we had time for. If you have any questions about what we did, please feel free to comment!
Stay tuned for London Part II.
